New Website to Increase Enrollment of Doctoral Candidates

As the first-ever initiative to address the underrepresentation of Deaf people in biomedical and behavioral sciences, this university research lab approached AllOut Marketing for help with a website to recruit potential doctoral candidates. Due to the program’s novelty, potential participants struggled to understand how the program would benefit them. We dug down through the complexity to find the elements that would resonate emotionally: the idea that Deaf scientists are actually already out there, with doctorates and successful careers. 

High Impact, Highly Visual

Our team developed a high-impact website tightly integrating video content in American Sign Language, the preferred communication method for many Deaf people. Heavy emphasis was put on the qualifications of the team and mentors, to earn the trust of a community often jaded by subpar services. 

Room to Grow

Crucial to the long-term success of the program was the ability to share the stories of the scholars as they progress through this innovative program. We provided social media tools and guidance to facilitate spreading the word among a tightly knit community while building a program legacy via publications, video biographies and resource lists.
